The GOP jobs plan. It does have some pretty pictures.
The Republicans are trotting out another Mitt Romney surrogate to try yet another attack on President Obama. They've had a disastrous few days trying to ding President Obama on national security and desperately need a change of subject. So they're
taking another stab at jobs, coming from Rep. Jeb Hensarling, House Republican Conference Chairman.
Rep. Jeb Hensarling said that President Obama wouldn’t “know a jobs bill if he tripped over it.”
“House Republicans have passed over 30 different jobs bills and, with one or two exceptions, he’s ignored them all,” said Hensarling.
In the
very few days the Republican-controlled House has been at work the last year, they have passed some stuff that they at least call "jobs" bills. Those would be the bills like
tax cut for NASCAR and NFL team owners. Or
this one.
House Republicans are now devoting full floor debates to bills such as H.R. 2087, “To remove restrictions from a parcel of land situated in the Atlantic District, Accomack County, Virginia.” That issue—allowing development on a 32-acre property—was so crucial to the Republic that lawmakers had five roll-call votes on the topic.
They dressed it up and called it a “jobs bill” [...].
Yes, if President Obama were to trip over H.R. 2087, he sure wouldn't know it as a jobs bill. Of course, neither would anyone else, unless they were a Republican member of Congress.
