According to Reuters’ David Lawder
Republicans in the House of Representatives on Monday will fire their first shots of the next deficit-reduction battle, advancing legislation to cut nearly $380 billion largely from social programs while protecting defense spending.
Now we knew this was coming of course but as the saying goes, 'Now The Rubber Meets the Road." and this worn out tire is going to get
no traction.
The cuts to food stamps, child tax credits and Medicaid healthcare for the poor, among others, are certain to stall in the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate.
While it will give repub=lick=ans no traction in congress it will give Democrats lots of ammunition to get out the vote. Every person who is in danger of losing a life saving, strife saving benefit will be more likely to vote Democratic and they will tell their friends either in casual conversation or by becoming active at the local party level.
repub=lick=ans will continue to shout out how they are trying to reduce taxes on the .01% that are buying their votes,
Democrats must tell everyone who will listen about Republican’s attempts to help the 99.9% and also keep pointing out all the ways those republicans are stonewalling just to make a point;
If we do that good enough we can win in November. Win not only another term for the best president of this century but also gain enough seats in congress to turn the tide and keep the Republicans from turning back the clock of democracy to a hundred plus years ago.
I am an originalist in that I believe we should honor the intent of the original framers of our constitution. Just a a person grows and learns so do we as a people and our laws should reflect that. That's why our founders created our system of government. Otherwise they'd have just said “Here are the rules!” and established police to enforce them with no legal way to change or modify the rules..
The Republicans seem to controlled by rich white men, by and large, who use the code word 'conservative' to mean ..…
1) I ain't paying for nothing unless I get more back than I put in.
2) I'm rich and want to keep getting richer faster and easier. I want to be able to cheat to do it. (Less government regulations will allow them to do that.)
AND
3) I want people who are in the 99% to keep getting less and less money so I can get more.
4) I'm above and outside of the law, that is if I disagree with a law I will not obey it and I should not be punished for it.
5) If asked to justify my actions I will claim our constitutional founders did not say 'EXACTLY' (And I mean down to the last period and comma if I want to push it.) what the new law says. If what they said was close or can be implied then that is not enough, It has to be exact if I need it to be. Now if I need new ammunition to keep the riffraff in their place I want laws passed that interpret the rules the way I want. In those cases the intent of the founders doesn't matter because I say so.
6) Women should not have the rights I have so that insures over half the existing population will not be able to compete against me.
&) Any one who is of a different ethnic group or religious group than me should also not have the rights I have.
9) I don't want to see any ethnic group except mine in any movies, on TV or in my neighborhood unless I need to hire real cheap labor. I reserve the right to hire illegal aliens if I want to keep my costs down. (One exception to that is if I decide to run for public office then I sure as heck do not want it known that I knew they were illegal.
10) Now I do want to see women of my ethnic group in movies or TV (in subservient roles of course) and for sure in porn movies like Rush Bimbo asked some slut to make because she had the audacity to speak up for women’s rights.
I know there are a few thousand more rights the rich conservatives want to claim at will so feel free to add to this list.
Getting back to the budget….
According to David Lawder in reference to what the repub=lick=ans think about Obama's Democratic budget…
The tax increases for the wealthy proposed by Obama, along with some spending increases, make that budget a non-starter for House Republicans.
I for one would like to make another term a non-starter for all the Republicans who have sold their soul to rich bidders to gain riches by stealing from us 99.9 to give to the .01%.
