"Mitt Romney is all for coal mining, and he proved that recently with a $2,500-per-person campaign stop in West Virginia, where he was introduced by the coal magnate Bob Murray", according to an article in the Salt Lake Tribune.
You may recall the name, Murray is the guy whose unsafe mine at Crandall Canyone collapsed twice in 2007, killing six miners and three would-be rescuers. His company paid the maximum fee allowable of $500,000 and Murray rode off in his private jet.
President Obama says he supports clean coal. I guess that is better than coal that is inside a miner's lungs or on top of of their bodies in a deep pit. Like the time following another disaster when he said, "We know what can cause mine explosions and we know how to prevent them, so I refuse to accept any number of miner deaths as simply a cost of doing business."
The company, Massey Energy Co., that he was bothering with Communist regulations had received more than 450 citations from federal inspectors in one year alone, more than 50 of which were for problems the operators knew about but had not corrected. 29 miners died in this West Virginia coal mine explosion. Can we expect the owner of that mine at Romney's next soiree?
It is highly doubtful that Mitt hangs out with miners, but it does appear that his friends not only own football teams and NASCAR racers, but also mines that kill American workers.
