Yesterday, after President Obama courageously put Equal Rights before politics, CBS4 in Denver asked Mitt Romney questions from viewers. The first three Viewer Questions were about: Marriage and Marijuana. Mitt Romney got irritated and combative with the reporter.
As the interview ended, and as Mitt was walking off, the Reporter tried to add levity, perhaps to make Mitt less angry with her -- but in Mitt's controlling style he mocked her.
MITT: "I'm not running on marriage and marijuana, those are state issues, right? Aren't they? Really? Yeah, Yeah."
REPORTER: "Well they could be Federal issues."
I cannot believe any serious candidate for US President would not know that both Marriage and Marijuana are Federal issues and have been for almost 200 years.
How can Mitt, of all people, not know that Marriage is a Federal Issue?
The Federal Marriage Law MABA (Morrill Anti-Bigamy Act) is why Grandpa Romney gave up his US Citizenship, moved to Mexico with his 5 wives and started his polygamy colony.
Has Mitt Romney no clue what DOMA is? What does Mitt think President Obama is talking about when he says he won't defend DOMA in court?
What does Mitt think Speaker John Boehner is talking about when he says he'll spend over $1.5 Million Dollars of Taxpayer money defending DOMA in court?
To me Mitt's comment underscores the notion that Mitt has no core values and merely speaks from a prepared script without knowing anything about the topic he regurgatates lines for. In December 2011, in an Endorsement Interview with the Des Moines Register Mitt said:
MITT: "I would defend the Defense of Marriage Act which the current president has refused to defend. I believe that the Defense of Marriage Act was well constructed and should be maintained."
Does Mitt mean he would "defend DOMA" if he were a Governor of a state? Does Mitt know DOMA is a Federal Law? After all, it is Mitt, who just yesterday said,
"I'm not running on marriage and marijuana, those are state issues, right? Aren't they? Really? Yeah, Yeah." So obviously Mitt has no idea what DOMA is - did he just memorize a script for that interview?
Allow me, a middle-class taxpayer, to give Mitt a free education:
Mitt, Read & Learn:
1) Federal Laws Supersede State Laws.
2) The following is a simple illustration of how Marriage is a Federal Issue:
i) Morrill Anti-Bigamy Act (MABA)
ii) Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)
iii) "Loving v. Virginia"
iv) 2002 Federal Marriage Amendment written by Alliance for Marriage
v) 2003 Federal Marriage Amendment written byAlliance for Marriage Judge Robert Bork
vi) 2004 Federal Marriage Amendment
vi) 2005 Marriage Protection Amendment
vii) 2008 Marriage Protection Amendment
-- End of your free lesson.
As for Marijuana, there have been Federal Laws Regulating Marijuana in America since 1850. Paleeze how can Mitt Romney, candidate for President, not know Federal Laws Regulate Hemp ... aka Cannabis ... aka Marijuana ... aka Pot ... aka MaryJane?!?!
MITT GETS ANGRY & CONDESCENDING at Viewers and Reporter:
Another part of the interview that highlighted Mitt has a quick temper if he is not allowed to control all aspects of an interview. Mitt was visibly angry and condescending to the Viewers who asked the questions about Marriage and Marijuana. In fact, Mitt was so livid that stopped answering the questions and he mocked the viewers and the reporter.
MITT (angry/mocking): "Aren't there issues of significance that you'd like to talk about?"
REPORTER: "These issues are significant to Colorado voters."
MITT: "The economy? The growth of jobs? The need to put people back to work? The challenges of Iran? We have enormous issues that we face -- ah but you want to talk --ah go ahead."
Madman Blue, from HuffPost had a great comment to Mitt on this:
“Here's the funny thing about being president as opposed to be a large scale CEO... You're going to have to deal with multiple issues, many of which don't have a place in the business world. A country is not a corporation, it's more nuanced, it's much more difficult to run. Welcome to the real world Mittly. Sit down and have a muffin.”
Three things are gleaned from that interview:
1) If President, Mitt would not know Marriage is a Federal issue.
2) If President, Mitt would not know Marijuana is a Federal issue.
3) Mitt has a quick temper & becomes angry and condescending with voters and reporters.
Watch the youtube video showing an angry, mocking Mitt Romney saying,
"I'm not running on marriage and marijuana, those are state issues, right? Aren't they? Really? Yeah, Yeah."
