Daily Kos is Inferior...
At this point in time, I still can not understand why Kos is limiting public discussion to the simplistic "I Agree With This Person" vs. "This Person's Opinion's Need To Be Censored" Format....
This has nothing to do with politics, electing more and better democrats, or any of that. This is a simple plea to Kos, from a person who would like to be part of a dynamic democratic community, from which I can gain both support and a greater understanding of those with whom I 'caucus.' Can you please included a disagree button? So often, I come across diaries and statements with which I disagree, but the rather limitied community standards on hiding prevent my from actually hide-rating them.
When I come across ideas that I agree with, It's easy for me to cheer. There should be a way for all of us to say 'Boo' without it necessarily meaning "Tar and Feather." If part of the problem with modern politics is extremism, the system of recommend vs hide promotes extremisim as much as imaginable. The fact that there is no effective way to politely disagree with a premise simply in a yea or nay form is a limitiation.
Please, for the love of nuiance, Kos, let me thumbs down a post without simultaneously having to claim that the poster is an 'enemy to all mankind.'
Edit: Everytime I bring this topic up, I get the response "To Dislike Something, All You Have to Do is Respond To It And Explain Why You Dislike It!"
I suppose my basic question is, why does agreeing with something of Daily Kos get free-rider benefits and disagreeing with something not? I'm sure if we had a voter law which said, if you want to vote out X official, write in why. If you want to re-elect him, check box, people would understand the problem....and the free-rider effect...
Edit: Most responses seem to be of the effect that because someone can write in a disagrement, everything is honky dory. To that I respond, what if a Republican wrote in that everyone who wanted to vote republican could simply check a box, but everyone who wanted to vote against a republican had to send in a written statement as to why. The effects of that would be obvious, no?
