From CNN:
Sens. Chuck Schumer and Bob Casey held a press conference Thursday morning on Capitol Hill where they outlined legislation that would prevent the Facebook co-founder from ever returning to the United States.
Schumer called Saverin's decision "outrageous" and labeled his tactics a "scheme."
"Saverin has turned his back on the country that welcomed him and kept him safe, educated him, and helped him become a billionaire," Schumer said. "This is a great American success story gone horribly wrong."
Schumer is a media hog. I used to respect the guy, until I realized that most of his "press conferences" lead to nothing more than face time for him.
That...and the time he feined being "duped" by the qualifications and leanings at Alito's confirmation. Hell, I knew the guy was a far-righter from a little bit of research. That fact that Schumer didn't seemed unlikely and still does.
Look. I'm that last person on the planet who would EVER vote republican. They're all unqualified to wipe my dog's butthole. Nonetheless, our party and people like Schumer have talked a good game to us without actually walking the walk.
How about making a REAL effort at pushing for tax increases for the wealthy? Sorry, I forgot that these guys are as compliant with their wealthy donors as the GOP is. After the JP Morgan Chase debacle the other day even Barney Frank was hedging his criticisms of Jamie Dimon on CNN, making a million caveats as to the fact that Dimon probably meant well and was working within the confines of tax law.
Sorry for the bitching. I'm just so tired of seeing our own try to dupe the rest of us the way the GOP continuously dupes it's own party loyal. Granted, the difference between the two are cavernous but these people are a far cry from the democrats I knew 20 years ago.
