Arizona Goes Birther Crazy: Secretary Of State Ken Bennett Says It's 'Possible' Obama Won't Be On Ballot! Secretary of State Ken Bennett, the man in charge of running Arizona's elections, has gone to the birthers. Secretary of State Ken Bennett now says he's not convinced Barack Obama was really born in the United States and so he is threatening to keep the president off the ballot in November.

Secretary of State Ken Bennett, the man in charge of running Arizona's elections, has gone to the birthers. Secretary of State Ken Bennett now says he's not convinced Barack Obama was really born in the United States and so he is threatening to keep the president off the ballot in November.

On Thursday, Bennett said he sent his request to Hawaii officials eight weeks ago but has yet to get the proof he was hoping for. He said he didn’t want another copy of the birth certificate. He wants Hawaii to give him what he described as “a verification in lieu of a certified copy of a birth certificate.”

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Travel with impunity. I mean, he needs to just show up in this joker's doorway and ask, "So, what's the deal?"

tactic by the Republican state governments. As a matter of fact I stated that the real purpose of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's committee's investigation the authenticity of the President's birth certificate was to provide a legal reason for the Arizona Secretary of State to keep Obama's name off of the ballot "due to insufficient proof" that he was born in America. I stated in my post that this tactic by the Republicans would essentially be the "kitchen sink" which would be the last desparate thing that they could throw at President Obama's re-election bid. I further predicted that this tactic would be replicated in each of the 34 states that have complete Republican control (legislature and Governor), and it is something that the Obama re-election campaign MUST TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY.

The reason for my concern is that the states choose to print their November ballots at different times, and many states using this "birther/ballot tactic" will try to schedule their announcement that the president's name will not be on the ballot such that by the time the state high court rules that the president's name must be included on the ballot- it will be too late for any printing change.

Obama supporters are scoffing at this latest "birtherism" in Arizona, since the President has already shown the public his long form birth certificate from Hawaii. But the Obama re-election campaign should look very carefully at the conclusions of sheriff Joe's committee. Their conclusion was that the birth certificate that the president showed to the nation was in fact a "DIGITAL FORGERY" which had been photoshopped to make it look authentic. At its heart this is a very clever argument which will require  expert technical testimony and a court to resolve. From my prespective this is far from being a silly claim, and at the minimum it has the possibility of throwing the 2012 election for president into complete chaos if this latest birther gambit is played out in 28 or more states before November the 5th.

      And don't believe in rules.

The radical Republican party is the party of oppression, fear, loathing and above all more money and power for the people who robbed us.
