Oh what a difference a couple of days make. Just a few days ago, the Romney camp pounced on the Obama administration's handling of a blind Chinese activist who was being persecuted by local authorities for his efforts on behalf of women's rights. The government's handling of this fairly clearly internal Chinese political crisis was a "day of shame" for the US and "a dark day for freedom" -- words typically used to describe the Yalta conference which betrayed Poland and ushered in the Iron Curtain and Cold War.

Just in the last day or two, we’ve heard some disturbing things from across the world that suggest that, potentially – if the reports are true – some very troubling developments there,” Mr. Romney told a crowd of supporters. “If the reports are true, this is a dark day from freedom, and it’s a day of shame of the Obama administration.”
During his remarks here to the sun-baked crowd, he also said, “It’s also apparent, according to these reports, if they’re accurate, that our embassy failed to put in place the kind of verifiable measures that would assure the safety of Mr. Chen and his family.”
Now the man and his family are in New York.

A blind Chinese legal activist who was suddenly allowed to leave the country has arrived in the United States.
Chen Guangcheng was accompanied by his wife and two children Saturday evening at Newark Liberty International Airport, outside New York. He had been hurriedly taken from a Chinese hospital hours earlier and put on a plane after authorities told him to prepare to leave.

So, how will thee Romney camp respond to the continued evidence of the success of President Obama's measured and diplomatic approach to world problems, even those that are not of our making?
