There is one thing, one morsel, one small message I would like every Kossack, and all of their families and like-minded friend to get ....
President Obama is a "shoe-in" for a second term.
He will run his campaign. The ground game will be as well-funded, and well organised as it was first time around. They know what they are doing and have had four years to get their ducks in a row for this time.
Regardless of our personal feelings about the President, this country, this America and to a great degree the rest of the world too, needs a victory.
If Barack Obama does not win a second term we have far greater things to worry about than our differences of opinion about the current state of the Democratic Party.
This election is NOT about Barack Obama. He will win and if he doesn't we might look to emigrate.
It is all about the down-ticket races.
Let me say that again:
The General Election in November is about the House, the Senate and every other item on the ballot
The GOP base hates Mitt Romney. Period. They hate him with a passion that we can only dream about. They don't merely disagree with him, not know him, mis-understand him ... They can't stand him!
They can be persuaded to stay at home, and if they do not only does Barack Obama win big, but so do all the other candidates, propositions, questions, etc.
Many of those issues, in Red States and Blue, safe States and Swing States will be won by fairly narrow margins. The current GOP confusion over, and ill-feeling towards their Champion is an opportunity to swing some of those votes our way.
Put aside your antipathy because there is a chance here, however slight, that we could give the President a Congress he can work with. Even if we can't we might be able to finally put the Tea-Party (sic) to bed.
Whatever .... If Democrats stay home, the best we can hope for is four more years of the same. If, on the other hand, we can drag Democratic Voters to the Polls, and keep the GOP home then we can do better than that.
Who knows what we can achieve? I certainly don't but I do know that, for the next six months we need to focus on one thing only.
Get out the vote, and make it the Democratic Vote
Remember those down-ticket races .... They are the key this time around.
Thanks for listening ... You may now return to your Sunday yardwork :)
