A while back I pointed out that DailyKOS (and other blogs I frequently read) spend a disproportionate amount of space covering with the Wrongpubicans are doing. At the time, I counted the items on DailyKOS and over 80% were about republican candidates and the issues they were talking about. Less than 10% of the items were focussed on thing the Obama Administration and the DNC were doing.
The feedback was "Naturally, this is primary season so republican candidates are what's news".
OK, that is pretty much over and done with (although, I still believe that they will have a brokered convention with Jeb Bush put up as the candidate - but that is a different story).
So, why is it STILL : 3 items on Democratic candidates/issues, 2 basically neutral and 6 on rightists?
"Romney focusses on education"
"Mr. Bain visits charter school"
"War on women impacts Romney fundraising"
"Let's see Romney's records"
"Romney and his bold pledge"
"Scott Walker's job failure"
What does this say?
It says - talk to your friends, neighbors and family about how bad Romney is.
What does it not say?
It does not say - Obama giving inspiration speech in Joplin MO with the theme - We are all Americans and we succeed TOGETHER; every man for himself policy is a failure.
It does not say - the Justice Dept is indicting fraudsters on Wall Street, we are pulling combat troops out of Afghanistan next month, we have veto'd the NDAA, we are ending all rendition and drone attacks. Oh. That's right. It can't say any of that.
But still - I would really like to see more items focusing on the ACTION of Obama and the DNC; health care success stories, Pell Grant successes, plan to expire Bush tax cuts and the benefits, etc. etc.
Give me more positive reasons to stump on. My audience is tired of hearing how bad the right is. To get them out, to get them engaged, to get them going - they need hope for change.
