Michigan Supreme Court gives Detroit a choice to legalize pot Yep, this might actually happen folks. It will still be up to the voters of Detroit, and if it passes it will still be heavily regulated, but it might actually happen. From the paragraph-long article
America has helplessly watched Detroit shrivel since the recession, but now the city may have found a foolproof way to get people to move to the Midwest metropolis.
Before you start packing your hemp duffle bags, there are some caveats: only an ounce, only on private property, only for people 21 and older. And its possible Detroit residents might vote no. But the city is having enough trouble keeping street lamps lit, let alone policing pot possession, so the measure is as practical as it is progressive.
I'm sure the pushback to this will be strong, but what form could it possibly take? I see no reason why this won't be a win-win if it passes, and if it does it should prove to be a move for the whole country to emulate. Let the dominoes fall.
