Another day, another illustration of the anti-gay fundies' rapidly increasing irrelevance. This story is just delicious.
If you don't already know, Target recently launched a line of shirts celebrating gay pride. The retailer partnered with the Family Equality Council, an organization that is helping fight Minnesota's anti-gay amendment banning marriage equality, to produce the shirts, which are designed by musician Gwen Stefani. All of the proceeds, up to $120,000, are going to the Family Equality Council and its pro-equality activism.
This is a step up from two years ago, when Target donated to MN Forward, a conservative PAC that funded anti-gay politics. It's clear that the retailer is at least trying to reach out to the LGBT community, even if it won't take a stand on the Minnesota amendment. The partnership with the Family Equality Council is certainly a welcome step, though. And one that the haters at the American Family Association (AFA), an SPLC-certified hate group, don't like one bit.
And so the AFA took to teh internetz to unleash its rabid army of foaming-at-the-mouth bigots on the evil Target for its support of the Homosekshual Agenda™.
Target has pledged $120,000 in cash to promote the legalization of homosexual marriage.

Target is joining President Obama in ramming same-sex marriage down the throats of the American people.
TAKE ACTION
Send an email to Target Chairman Gregg Steinhafel. Let him know that a majority of Americans oppose same-sex marriage and are able to use their pocketbooks to voice their opposition to companies that support it.
And e-mail the bigots did. And Target received all of those e-mails and took note of them. And then promptly blocked all e-mails from the AFA Action Alert system. Snort.
The Christian Post reports:
When Target began selling the pro-gay shirts late May, the American Family Association sent out an alert to supporters, asking them to let Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel "know that a majority of Americans oppose same-sex marriage and are able to use their pocketbooks to voice their opposition to companies that support it."
In a recent update, AFA stated, "Target is blocking emails from the AFA Action Alert system." The family group is asking supporters to contact the retailer through other means.
Steinhafel says that diversity is a "core value" at the retailer and that Target fosters "an inclusive culture."
How's that middle finger, AFA? That must sting.
Of course, the AFA also recently urged its followers to boycott Target until it stops selling its pro-gay apparel. The list of acceptable shopping venues is getting shorter and shorter for the bigots. Target, Macy's, Home Depot, and JCPenney are all out. How long until they realize nobody gives a shit if they're "boycotting" and that they're only hurting their shopping options with these asinine stunts? The only people paying attention are those who are laughing at them as pro-gay retailer after pro-gay retailer tells them to fuck off.
It's like they can't even feel the sheer irrelevance enveloping them. Next stop, Wrong Side of History.
