I want to tell you a story.
Two months ago we had a special election here in Brooklyn New York. This was to fill a State Senate seat of a corrupt State Senator (who I'm ashamed to say was a Democrat) named Carl Kruger. Lew Fidler, a Democratic New York City Councilman, ran against a Republican lawyer who has a questionable practice (his web site actually says he defends rapist and people who have been accused of attacking children) named David Storobin. The district this election was being held in has become more conservative over the years, and, in fact, with redistricting was being carved up and disbanded. Therefore, whoever was elected will only serve until the end of the Senate session which is June 21st. A new session wouldn't start until January 2013 (nice job for about $79,000 for 6 months) and this district is gone.
Well, the vote results were too close, they counted absentee ballots, there was a problem in that a lawyer for Storobin signed off on absentee ballots from voters saying they couldn't get to the polls and then went a voted! There were about 100 or so voters who actually then went to the polls and voted! No criminal charges have been filed against this lawyer.
They did another hand count which was verified last Thursday, and guess what, Storobin won by FOURTEEN (14) VOTES! He's scheduled to be sworn in on June 5th.
My message to ALL PEOPLE IN WISHCONSIN is PLEASE DO NOT THINK YOUR VOTE WON'T MATTER. 14 PEOPLE HERE IN BROOKLYN DID NOT THINK SO and now we have someone who, even though he'll only be in the State Senate for about 2 1/2 weeks, will have this on his resume. I hear he's planning on running for the State Assembly in my district and think of how impressed people will be that a "State Senator" who lost his district in redistricting is running to represent them.
There is much more I can tell you about David Storobin, but he isn't really the issue (besides you can google him). The issue is GETTING OUT AND VOTING.
Good luck tomorrow I'm on your side. I've already donated a few weeks ago and due to not having a job and a couple of personal issues, I'm not able to send even $5 but I am on your side and the side of Tom Barrett.
