Madison, WI (APE) - Fox News is reporting $200,000 damage sustained to their equipment early last night in downtown Madison, Wisconsin on the eve of Scott Walker's victory in his bid to retain his governorship in a hotly contested recall election. A mobile news van was apparently "tagged" by an unknown "union thug" in broad daylight as the news team was filming a spontaneous eruption of support for the vindicated governor in the capitol square, according to a Fox News representative.
"We were pretty busy covering Governor Walker's victory celebration," stated live reporter Farran Ballanst. "A small band, and a singing group with lighted signs had assembled on the northwest corner of the capitol in support of the Governor, and in the middle of all the distraction, we were vandalized. It's just such a shame that something like this could happen to ruin an otherwise peaceful event."
Ballanst went on to estimate that the spontaneous crowd of support for Walker, placed at 100,000 by Fox News sources, exceeded even the peak number of protesters from last year. Madison police declined to comment or offer their own estimates on the crowd size, and stated that they currently had no particular suspects in the incident of vandalism.
In a related story, a spokesperson for Fox News refused comment yesterday on the allegation that the News bureau had been granted immunity in an expanding "John Doe" investigation into possible illegalities by the Walker Campaign. Fox News would be the estimated twentieth or thirtieth person/entity to be granted immunity in the ongoing investigation. They are rumored to have provided technical support for the Governor's allegedly setting up of a secret email and communication system in the state capitol, as well as freelance cell phone hacking services.
