Morning News Dump with Lizz Winstead, Shannyn Moore and Cliff Schecter (Rotunda)
Coffee and doughnuts
From our mobile devices and iPads, our team of dedicated bloggers will attempt to convey the essentials of the morning news as presented by this group. Be aware that the real purpose is the "coffee and doughnuts" and if there are gaps in coverage it is probably for eating, sipping coffee and pausing to laugh.

The more detailed description of the event is below.

The Morning News Dump

Grab your coffee before the action begins each morning while getting an freewheeling and hilarious update of the day’s news with Daily Show co-creator and comedian Lizz Winstead, Radio host, journalist Shannyn Moore and Pundit, author and teller of truths, Cliff Shecter.

The Morning News Dump is sorta like “Morning Joe,” minus the guests who have gotten everything wrong for the past 10 years. Each morning these three will also welcome some of your favorite bloggers and politicians as well to give you a download of the days news before you hit the Netroots ground running.

Roll out of bed and join them!

Generously sponsored by The Guardian US.

Lizz Winstead
As co-creator and former head writer of The Daily Show and co-founder of Air America Radio, Lizz Winstead has helped changed the way people get their news.

As a performer, Lizz brought her political wit to The Daily Show as a correspondent and later to the radio waves co-hosting Unfiltered, Air America Radio’s mid-morning show, with Chuck D and Rachel Maddow.

Known as as one of the top political satirists in America, Winstead is currently touring the country, bringing her razor sharp insights to the stage selling out shows from LA to NYC.

When Lizz is not on stage, she writes for The Guardian, The Huffington Post, at her website and is a regular on MSNBC giving her spin on breaking news.

Her first book, Lizz Free Or Die, was released by Riverhead Books May 10th 2012.

Shannyn Moore
Just a Girl from Homer, Alaska.
Of course, she isn't "just a girl from Homer, Alaska. She is this girl from Homer Alaska who blogs at Mudflats:
Shannyn Moore (born June 12, 1970) is an American political blogger based in Alaska. Moore is a writer for The Huffington Post and has been a prominent critic of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. She has appeared on such television shows as The Rachel Maddow Show and Countdown with Keith Olbermann
Cliff Schecter

Cliff Schecter is a bestselling author (The Real McCain), nationally syndicated columnist, co-founder/owner of We Act Radio–Washington DC’s independent progressive radio station–and founder/President of Libertas LLC, a progressive public relations/direct mail firm.

As a political consultant, Schecter helped re-elect President Bill Clinton in 1996 and many others since. His firm has worked with Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the American Association for Justice, the Alliance for Climate Protection and many others.

As a regular pundit Schecter’s ideas have been quoted in The New York Times, on The Daily Show and in other various media.

Schecter likes cats, his kids, people who don’t like Donald Trump and Graeters Ice Cream. Rush Limbaugh claims to have “never heard of him,” and John McCain once called him “trash.” He always wanted to bat .400.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
