I have long believed almost all conservatives hopelessly naive. Sadly, I have been coming across liberals who are even more so.
They speak of defeating Obama for not fulfilling the promises he never made. They want to see Romney ascend so that they can "better mobilize" against him.
They seem to be more interested in the fight than the prize.
It reflects a total lack of understanding about how a republic works. Did they even work on Dennis Kucinich's or Ralph Nader's campaigns?
It's heartbreaking, and it's not a good sign when people who should be enthusiastic about the democratic candidate want to see him lose.
There always has been and always will be true believers of whatever. I can deal with that. Problem is with the inability to learn from history, general ignorance about how a republic works, and unreasonable expectations.
It is the Lefty version of willful ignorance, of only seeing what you want to see. It appears as youthful folly, but also can be found among mature and educated people who should know better.
I am very interested in whatever comments the rest of you might have about this. Has anyone else noticed it? How widespread is it?
