Mitt Romney's campaign today on Obama's executive order:
Romney adviser Kevin Madden on immigration decision: Romney is focused on the economy.
Now, we all know Republicans aren't all that adept at handling complexity, but we're only talking about two issues here: immigration and the economy. If he can't chew gum and walk at the same time, Mitt Romney isn't fit to be president. He's now failed this test.
So, Mitt Romney is focused like a laser on the economy.
Well, sorry Rmoney, but that's not good enough.
What about Al Qaeda? Are you going to be unable to deal with them because you're focused on the economy?
What about things like:
The BP Oil spill?
Pirates kidnapping American sailors?
Katrina?
A nuclear meltdown in Japan?
An American president must be able to deal with more than just one thing at a time.
If Mitt Romney can't even give the American public his opinion on this executive order because he's too focused on just one issue, then he's failed the most important test in seeing whether he can handle the job of the presidency.
Lots of rich people who grew up with silver spoons in their mouths have "people" to handle all that complexity for them, in their personal lives and in their business lives. It's starting to sound like Mitt Romney is one of those types of rich people.
George W. Bush was one of those rich people with a business degree and management experience who couldn't deal with complexity personally either. He had people for that.
Unfortunately for America, a president has to be able to do that job himself. That's what he's elected for.
11:33 AM PT: It's 3am somewhere: Ring ring, Romney. Ring ring.
