My late Dad had a saying “put your money where your mouth is.” He had little patience for people who talked big but never followed through on actually doing something. I am issuing a challenge today to the Front Pagers of Daily Kos and to Kossocks. Follow me below the squiggle and I’ll explain.

I live in North Carolina and my district NC-5 is represented by Virginia Foxx. Did you know she has a Progressive challenger in Elisabeth Motsinger? Did you know Justin Coussoule is the Democratic Challenger to John Boehner? Did you know E. Wayne Powell is challenging Eric Cantor? Did you know Jim Graves is challenging Michele Bachmann? Did you know Tammy Duckworth is challenging Joe Walsh? Did you know Rob Miller is running against Republican Joe Wilson? Did you know Steve King’s Democratic opponent is Matt Campbell? Unfortunately you wouldn’t know if you read the Daily Kos Front Page because none of these important match ups are being talked about properly.

If you look at the Front Page you are seeing cartoons that are really upsetting a lot of readers. I have never seen so many HRs on Front Page articles as I am seeing on these cartoons. Sorry Kos but none of these guys are the next Garry Trudeau and Doonesberry. They are taking up valuable space that could be used for better purposes. We don’t need constant stories on what a jerk Mitt Romney is. We know that. You are preaching to the choir. As my Grandmother would say I don’t need to know every time Romney has a fart cross ways.

We know how bad the Republicans are. We know we need to reelect Obama. What will it gain us to reelect Obama if we don’t retake the House of Representatives? What will it gain us if we don’t keep the majority in the Senate? We will have four more years of nothing getting done.

My proposal for the Front Page is this: on every Front Page have one promotion of someone running for Congress. When it cycles off put up another one. Let people know who is running, where their headquarters are, how to donate to them. For Kossacks I want us to provide the diaries to give the information. I would suggest the title read like this (my district) “NC-5 Our Candidate to Replace Virginia Foxx is Elisabeth Motsinger.” Update as often as you can to let us know where your candidate is speaking or major interviews. For the Front Page people just take the diaries and promote them. We will do the work for you. I’ll even volunteer to do the Elisabeth Motsinger ones.

As my Dad said put your money where your mouth is. It was followed by talk is cheap. What is not cheap is trying to get worthy candidates elected when we are opposed by Republican big money. Give us a hand Front Page. We are out here in the States working our hearts out. Help us out. One less cartoon. One less Romney story. Promote our candidates. It is a win - win situation for everyone.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

might I mention Wanda Rohl, who's going up against Adam Kinzinger in Illinois? I've met her, and she's awesome.

to keep the cartoonists. The H/Rs have come from those who have a very set opinion about precisely what views should be expressed here and fail to grasp the whole concept of political cartooning.

Views have been expressed in cartoon form that I disagree with but I wouldn't dream of h/ring the cartoonist.

I don't think that this is the case. I think there are some very genuine concerns about some of these cartoons and those concerns need to be addressed.
