Peetey had a forever home, or so he thought. He was adopted from a shelter and given as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, a family member developed an allergy to him, and they were forced to return him. Peetey has now been waiting for five months for a new forever home. Day in and day out he sits in his acrylic enclosure at the Everett PetSmart, run by Purrfect Pals volunteers, watching as people walk by and other cats come and go.

Peetey is a beautiful, affectionate cat, but he has a minor flaw. Part of his tail was cut off in an accident. This disfigurement, along with the fact that he is an adult cat, makes it much more difficult for him to find a new home. The Purrfect Pals volunteers take good care of him. They pet him, play with him and show him a lot of love, but it is no substitute for a real home.

Peetey is not alone in his search for a home. There are millions of homeless cats and dogs across the country, including hundreds of cats in the Purrfect Pals foster system alone. Purrfect Pals is a no-kill cat shelter that operates out of Arlington, WA. They provide foster and adoption services for homeless cats, along with medical care, spay/neuter service, vaccines, microchips and, of course, food.  They estimate that they provide more than $300 in service for every cat they home.

Purrfect Pals has recently asked for help in feeding the more than 50 litters of kittens currently in their foster system. The organization accepts donations through their website and maintains an Amazon.com WishList were people can send them supplies directly. Right now, they are in desperate need of both dry and canned kitten food.

If you know someone in Washington state who could provide a permanent, loving home for Peetey, or one of the other Purrfect Pals cats, please pass this information on to them. Peetey has been waiting almost half a year for someone to love and care for him. That is far too long.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
