This just dropped into my email box. I thought it would be important to share. It means that, thank god, we can rewrite every civics class in America--those that still exist--because we have a newer, fresher, dynamic view of the Constitution thanks to a press release straight from the offices of one of the great legal and policy minds in the country. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you the junior Senator from Kentucky.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF RAND PAUL
"I have read and re-read the Constitution many times. The Cliff Notes version is clear, as I stated earlier today, Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional. While the court may have erroneously come to the conclusion that the law is allowable, it certainly does nothing to make this mandate or government takeover of our health care right.
C'mon, that Article IIIis so misunderestimated and misunderstood.
While I'm on the topic, I've recently been re-reading Article II and let's face it, I am certain that this clause is clear: avowed Socialists cannot serve as president. It doesn't matter what it actually says. Just because it doesn't say anything about Socialism doesn't make it so. And it's just that liberal media gottcha game that would point out the theory of "Socialism" did not exist in the 18th Century.
Let me expand on this a bit. You know that First Amendment clause? Well, just because the Constitution says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances", it doesn't make it so. So, today, I am announcing new legislation to forbid all speeches that make fun of me, or my father's wacky ideas about fiat money.
And, you know that AMENDMENT XXII, the one that says no president shall serve more than two terms? Well, just because it was ratified by the people, doesn't make it so. I say, bring back Ron Reagan for a third term. Uh...Oh, he's dead. Well, anyway, there's George W. But I digress...
The Congress? Just because Article I of the Constitution says, "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives", including, can you believe, the power to "establish Post Offices and post Roads", does not make it so. No way.
I could go on and on--You see, where I'm going here. What's right is what I say is right. Going out on a limb here and using a little French, "L'État, c'est moi".
That's it, over and out.

And, this my friends, is the future of the Republican Party-Tea Party.
