More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Today of all days - I live in No. VA in an area devastated by the overnight storms of last night - and as I was heading out looking for a place to find nourishment this morning I passed right by one of these in the parking lot of the local Giant.

While some might snicker at the problem of having an electric fleet in the face of power outages, I'm actually confident that their infrastructure is intact and still have the ability to charge overnight.

Good for them - and thanks for the diary!

  •  "The trucks generate (0+ / 0-)

zero tailpipe emissions . . . and vehicle CO2 emissions"

From the press release.  Note that they make no claim
    of reduced emissions
    (including CO2) overall . . . (they know better).

Depending on where they are operated these coal-electric or fracked-gas-electric vehicles may well produce higher overall emissions (although granted emissions would be lower if they are hydro-electric or nuclear-electric instead).  Since they are day-use/night charge vehicles they cannot be solar-electric . . .

  •  I don't have an E-car yet, (1+ / 0-)

but there's one in my future. A few of the places I frequent have established dedicated parking spaces for electric cars with receptacles on a post or wall. It pisses me off to see non-plugin vehicles parking in them. Makes me want to leave a note on their windshield..."Thanks you arrogant a**hole. since you parked in an E-car slot, some poor slob may not get home with their groceries tonite because he couldn't plug in his car."

One of my favorite places to sail to is the Kingston Cove Marina on Bainbridge Isl. here in WA state. Of their own volition they have an electric GEM car for visiting boaters to use free of charge to run to the grocery store and re-provision.
    Thanks indycam for the diary.

    •  I have a very long extension cord (1+ / 0-)

      in my vehicle .
I was given shit for not parking in the spot next to the charging station . There is no sign saying that charging must be done from the closest parking spot .

I once parked on the street , ran the cord up a tree so pedestrians would not trip and then back down to the charging station inside the parking lot .

I know that "shit happens" and I planned for it .

What I didn't plan for was the "owner" of the charge station being a flaming idiot .
