Sunday Puzzle logo v 1

It's the first Sunday of the month, which means it's potluck puzzle party time here at Sunday Puzzle. If you have a puzzle you'd like to share, post it in comments and we'll paste it into the diary.

Recently we added a new feature to Sunday Puzzle: every week at least one puzzle features a vagina in the clues or the answers. Two weeks ago the quoted text in the cryptogram included a vagina. Last week one of the JulieCrostic answers was vagina. How many vaginas can you find this week, and where are they?

When you find out, post the answer in comments. (And if you live in Michigan, consider writing House Speaker James Bolger and some of the other Republican  legislators to let them know, since it seems unlikely they'll be able to figure it out on their own.)

In addition to this morning's Where's Vagina puzzle, there are a couple of cryptograms on the potluck table, plus a Puzzle-In-A-Poll. Pucklady will be posting a JulieCrostic, and plf should be along in a while with some Lost In Translastions. Have fun, and I'll see you in comments!

Crypto-Julie

In this cryptogram the letters A, E, I, O and U have been replaced with asterisks. That means it can't be solved by mechanical cryptogram-cracking programs; but it can be solved by human intelligence.

Crypto-Gremlin

In this cryptogram, letters have been added to make sure each word begins with a consonant (or consonant sound) and ends with a vowel (or vowel sound). If you're not familiar with Crypto-Gremlins, you can find complete rules for Crypto-Gremlins here.

Here's my (pucklady's) Juliecrostic, but it has nothing to do with vaginas.

 1 Beatles venue
 2 hurry
 3 card game
 4 papas
 5 most distant
 6 hairdos
7 Jews who immigrated to London from the Netherlands during the latter part of the  19th century (Hi,Peter!)
 8 And Ladders game
 9 Thus! And again, thus!
10 brothel (this is as close to a vagina as you are going to get from me (well, without dinner). And I've been wanting to use this as a clue since, um, forever!)
11 Paul Weasley
12 zzz, loudly
13 This is a geographical point in Svalbard. And no, I've never heard of Svalbard before, either, but the country code is SV. If it has a country code, it must be a real place, dammit. And, it does have seven national parks! (The things you learn when you are trying to find fits for odd letters.) The funniest thing is, when you Google this, you get pictures of drunk people in parkas.
14 concerned
15 memento
16 true
17 aware
18 for sale, at consumer prices
19 dependent. Also, Chekov's ship in Star Trek.
20 inside

What does "close observation pot" mean? (HINT: it's a word starting with V.)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
