Newt Gingrich and other Republican yahoos love to associate President Obama with welfare and other government giveaway programs to the point that Gingrich commonly and disparagingly refers to the President as "The Food Stamp President."
Given that Florida has been recognized by the federal government as running one of the best food stamp programs in America, is it now appropriate to call Gov. Rick Scott "The Food Stamp Governor?"
The below AP story gives details:
Fla. gets $9 million bonus in food stamp program
The Associated Press
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida is getting a $9.1 million bonus from the federal government over how the state is running its food stamp program.
The Department of Children and Families announced on Monday that the federal government has awarded the state a bonus for the fifth year in a row.
DCF said that Florida's error rate of 0.87 was the second lowest in the nation behind Alaska.
State agencies across the country are required each year to review a statistical sample of households and double-check if the family is eligible for assistance and whether the benefits levels are appropriate.
In May there were approximately 3.4 million people receiving food stamps in Florida.
Makes you wonder if Scott will refuse to take the money out of some stupid loyalty to silly Tea Party principles. Stay tuned...
But hey, if I was Rick Scott, The Food Stamp Governor is an improvement over some of the other nicknames he's been dubbed with such as Skeletor, Voldemort and Pink Slip Rick.
