Mitt might pretend to consider you for VP after all.
Ann Romney said Thursday that at least one woman is under consideration as Mitt Romney's running mate. That's funny, because in May, we learned:
“We’ve been looking at that. And I’d love that option as well,” Ann told "CBS This Morning" when asked if she'd like to see a female vice presidential nominee.
One Republican official familiar with the campaign’s thinking said it will be designed to produce a pick who is safe and, by design, unexciting – a deliberate anti-Palin. The prized pick, said this official: an “incredibly boring white guy.”And in June, we learned:
"I think unfortunately, Palin poisoned the well on that," said one informal Romney adviser, fretting that any woman selected as VP would draw inevitable comparisons to the former Alaska governor. "I would guess if I were inside the Romney mind that they're worried that any woman chosen will be subjected to a higher level of scrutiny."But never mind all that. Sure, the Mitt camp has been saying, over and over, "Don't worry, we're not going to make the McCain mistake by putting some chick on the ticket." But Ann Romney, whose official job on the campaign is to inform Mitt Romney about what the womenfolk think, has apparently decided that the womenfolk think Mitt should pretend to be considering some women for the slot that his campaign has already promised will be going to the most incredibly boring white guy they can find—which shouldn't be much of a struggle in the Republican Party.
So start polishing those résumés, Republican ladies, because Sarah Palin might not have ruined everything for you after all.
