President Obama has the Republicans on their heels again trying to defend their obsession with keeping tax cuts for the rich.
We are hearing the Republicans going back to their tried and true, "cannot tax the 'job creators'" nonsense. I do like that the Democrats are armed with facts this time about the percentage of people (98%) and percentage of small businesses (97%) that won't be effected by the tax increase.
President Obama needs to hit back against this meme and tie it all together.
President Obama needs to start spouting facts about how giving tax breaks to those making over $250K per year won't do anything to make them use this money to generate jobs and in fact will cause some of them to take the extra money and stick it in oversea accounts.
Democrats need to explain that small business owners who are going to have their taxes increased are pulling out over $250K from their business or they wouldn't be having their taxes increased. In fact, the tax increase if anything would be an incentive to invest anything over $250K they are making back into the business. This is actually the opposite of what Republicans are arguing and is the more reasonable conclusion about what would occur.
In fact, if Republicans are really serious about generating jobs in terms of the tax code, they would have passed the parts of President Obama's job plan that added tax incentives for small business owners who hired new employees. Of course, since it was an Obama proposal they didn't even vote on it.
The Bain ads are working, now tie Romney fighting to keep the tax cuts for the wealthy to his off-shoring of his cash and I think we'll see even better results.
If Romney's tax returns contain very damaging details, then he's in big trouble because he has no answer for the Swiss and Cayman accounts. If the returns contain embarrassing but not game changing details, then I think we'll see them released.
