Artur Davis was once a rising African-American Democratic Congressman who was similar to Harold Ford in many of his New Democrat leanings. In 2010, he ran for governor of Alabama, but got his ass kicked in the Democratic Primary, losing the African American vote (I think) to a white candidate. Alabama Dems saw through him. Many African Americans saw through him. He realized his bullshit would not fly with Democrats, so earlier this year he moved to Virginia and joined the Republican Party.
And, like all Republicans, he now is kissing ass to the Tea Party:
Artur Davis, the former Alabama Democratic congressman who recently announced his rebirth as a Virginia Republican, appeared before the Northern Virginia Tea Party on Monday, delivering a speech that referenced Ronald Reagan and Rosa Parks, while congratulating the Tea Party on their success over the past few years.
“I want to submit to you that in the last 100 years, no political organization, in the history of this country, has done more to shape or influence politics as quickly as y’all did.” Davis said. “You know, my kinfolk from the South in the civil rights movement changed the country. But even the civil rights movement did not figure out how to win elections and turn a country around as quickly as you did.”

“I want to put myself in perspective,” he said. “I am one person, out of eight to 10 million people, who voted for Barack Obama four years ago, who based on polling today say they shall not do it again.”

How dare he compare the civil rights movement to the Tea Party. And Rosa Parks has nothing in common with the racist Tea Party.
Fuck you, Mr. Davis. That's as polite as I can be. Here's a southernism I learned when dating a woman who was born in Oklahoma: "I'll pray for him." I'll pray he gets some god damn sense. I'll pray he stops laying down with racists to further his political career.
Pretty damn sad. Alabama Dems had this asshat figured out back in 2010.
