While it may still be too much to hope for and one must always be aware that getting what you want may in fact be the worst possible alternative, it is almost starting to look like the Republicans are about to experience something very similar to what would have been the Democrat's nightmare scenario in 2008 where John Edwards somehow won the nomination following which the details of his affair and other child came out thereby sinking both his campaign as well as Democratic hopes up and down the ballot.
While there's still a chance that R-Money could come up with some plausible excuse (for which he will no doubt received considerable backing by the MSM) to explain the inconsistencies that seems to be becoming harder and harder by the day.
I don't have any insight as to how the Republican delegates are committed for the first ballot and beyond but short of Romney pulling himself out (which given his personality seems unlikely) I don't know if there is any way now for the R's to derail the Romney nomination themselves no matter how bad the news becomes.
Maybe there's an echo chamber effect here but it seems like this is starting to steamroll and if it really does get going I don't see how it can work out well for Romney.
