This Wisconsin Wave is under severe time limits in a recount of the governor recall and needs your support immediately.

This is very important to know about and support.  I just heard about this on Thom Hartmann and it is an organization which more than deserves our support.

A new organization has arisen in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Wave which advertises

No More Stolen Elections!

The Wisconsin Wave is working with a grassroots coalition to hand count ballots from the June 5th Recall elections in light of recent evidence that the machine totals may have been manipulated.

Since the polling on the Wisconsin Recall significantly differed from the "official" results, some interested Wisconsinites decided to investigate.  And guess what, they have found sufficient evidence that an investigation into the governor recall is warranted.  According to an interview on Thom Hartmann today, observers of the Racine recount discovered some worrying deviations the hand recount and what was reported.  In addition, the famed Kathy Nicklaus changed software before April election breakdown  What could possibly go wrong with that scenario?

This organization is calling for a HAND COUNT of the votes.  (What you mean you don't trust the voting machines owned by private 'for profit and pro Republican' corporations who won't allow transparency on their machines?)

Exit polls reported by major news outlets at 8pm put the race at a 50-50 dead heat.  However less than an hour later, with only 25% of precincts reporting, those same outlets called the race for Walker.  This early prediction was later matched by the official count which settled at 53% for Walker and 46% for Barrett.......

These concerns were amplified when citizen-observers monitoring the Racine Senate recount decided to also double check the gubernatorial race.  The results were extremely disturbing- in the Racine precincts where observers were stationed, statistically significant differences were found between the recounted totals and the official election night totals. Even more troubling, in EVERY case these disparities benefited Walker over Barrett, drastically decreasing the likelihood they could've be caused by random error.

The ONLY way to know if the Recall was free of systematic fraud and abuse is to hand count the ballots!

A grassroots coalition, which includes the Wisconsin Wave, has formed to verify the accuracy and integrity of the election results.  Called “Hand Count Votes Now!,’’ we’ve gotten the ball rolling by filing open records requests to access the ballots in all 72 Wisconsin counties, and teams have already been sent out to perform hand counts.
However time is of the essence, and your support is needed right now!
Some counties are threatening to destroy their ballots within the next two weeks unless onerous and arbitrary fees are paid to satisfy the open records request.  This means we must raise thousands of dollars in a short amount of the time to complete this vital project.  It also means we must move quickly to count as many ballots as we can.

Hand Count Ballots Right Now

We MUST Support this effort.  The Wisconsin Recall Election Results need to be verified.  It is useless for us to complain that the Republicans steal elections, we NEED TO TAKE ACTION.  And once again, our Wisconsin brothers and sisters are showing us how it is done.  If we push back now, then we will be stronger when it comes to the presidential.  We have already suffered the theft of the presidential and let's work hard against that happening again.

However time is of the essence, and your support is needed right now!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

this is the first I heard about this too, which is why I wanted the community to know about it asap.  Thom Hartmann was talking about it today.

Couldn't find that info on their website, but I am sure that if you wanted to send them an email, they would respond.

not thrilled with many of the recall decisions it made.

It basically broke the law contained in the Wisconsin Constitution.  The articles pertaining to the Right to Recall contain a very specific time-table that should be iron-clad.  The board basically allowed the WISGOP candidates to stall, stall, stall until the timetable became as favorable as it could be for them.

Walker appointed his first nominee on April 2, 2012.  Of the six current members, five were originally appointed by Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle; but three of them have previously served as Republican elected officials.  Only two of the members have not been elected to partisan office.

I have lost faith in that board considering the Koch/Bradley Foundation tentacles that corrupt my state.

        •  There are many things that make the ThugGov's (6+ / 0-)

re-election suspicious.  The difference between exit polls and election results, calling the race while people were still voting with less than 30% of the results in are only a few of them.

Another troubling aspect for me is the personal history and politics of the owners of Command Central. I have read reports that their two-person company controls 46 Wisconsin districts and 3,000 voting machines.  Some have questioned why they are so "anxious" to get their recall PROM packs back...innuendo for sure...but interesting none-the-less!

Command Central has been offering new voting machines to county clerks if they agree to use their software.  Those "free" machines and the accompanying software have been used in some very "interesting" locations.  Additionally, I have read that Command Central supplies TWO PROM packs...a PRE-LAT to test the machine and the second “Official” one to be used the day of the election!  WHAT could go wrong?!  Why are two packs used and the second is NOT tested for accurate counting before the election?

It always bothered me that in the Kloppenburg recount according to WI law, the ballots were recounted by the very machines and software that counted them in the first place...how asinine is that?  If districts originally used machines, hand counts are not required by law.

What troubles many of us and, therefore, fuels suspicion is the kick-in-the-gut realization that those who seek to control WI, her citizens, and her assets through their control of the WISGOP will do ANYTHING to maximize the power they seek.

In my opinion, election integrity is even more important than addressing the repercussions of the Citizens United ruling.  The fact that a handful of partisan Republican, super-rich Corporatists control 80% of the vote counts in the United States is VERY troubling...what could go wrong?!

You're right about the law -- but by agreement between the candidates, much of the recount was conducted by hand. Here is one story about it. The percentage was quite substantial, because (for instance) all of Milwaukee was included in the agreement.

That said, I agree that it's nuts to conduct recounts by machine at all.

As for the suspicions about Walker/Barrett, I haven't seen much factual basis up to now. I would love to know some facts from Racine.

Suggest you coordinate with Puddytat, Giles Goat Boy, noise of rain, and badscience to locate and analyze everything else available.

You can find them all by using the Search function for authors of diaries.

I feel utterly convinced that the recall vote would have put Tom Barrett in office, and that ballots were 'lost' and -- if counted -- were counted by people using a fixed formula that would keep Walker just a little bit ahead, so that it would look realistic. The decision on the outcome of the vote came far too quickly and the reasons given -- the canard that people thought a recall wasn't reasonable -- had never come up in countless firsthand descriptions of canvassers and other observers.

It astonishes me that no process seems to exist whereby the Federal Government can step in to prevent governorship-level criminal perversions of honest voting practices.

I'm going to post a check to the Madison address at Liberty Tree Foundation.

From the instant that the results unfolded, I smelled a rat.

I cannot tell you how relieved and proud I am of Wisconsin for getting up when they were knocked down and taking these important steps.

That Kathy Nicklaus must have a very generous retirement account somewhere.... Cayman Islands, maybe?

The decision on the outcome of the vote came about when one might expect, given how the votes were running. The results were pretty consistent all around the state. Even if one is suspicious of the results, I don't see anything suspicious about the timing.

Although we don't have unweighted crosstabs, it's pretty clear that most exit poll respondents said that recalls are appropriate "only for official misconduct." It's also clear that a lot of people who gave that response voted for Barrett. So I don't think that issue is very important one way or another.

I don't know of any reason to feel utterly convinced that Barrett should have won the recall. He trailed in almost every poll (one showed him tied); the turnout figures did not break his way. (Turnout figures are distinct from vote counts, so if a lot of ballots were merely "lost," that would show up unless the turnout figures were rigged as well.) It's logically possible, but I don't see the evidence.

I just hope and pray Wisconsin doesn't let them get away with this.

Frankly, when the results came in, my instinct immediately told me that something was fishy.  That's one reason I am writing this diary, because, it turns out that I was not the only one with that reaction and furthermore, it turns out that there was good reason for that reaction.

So much effort went into this recall.  Mature folks like myself knew we had to be prepared for any outcome but I am very uncomfortable with these results. I will always wonder.  I hope we get a chance to recount the entire state and I believe that we need to keep digging and digging and asking every question in our minds until we've got a government we can feel confident about.  There's too much at stake not to do our due diligence.

I've been concerned about the difference between the exit polls and results.  On election night, all the networks were predicting "a long night" based on the exit polls, but quickly changed their tune and declared Walker the winner while people were still in line waiting to vote in Milwaukee.

Interesting that I'm not alone.  I'm going to check out that organization.  My wonky NEW puter meant I've been going without Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann and my other streaming radio show.

Thanks so much for paying attention and diarying on this.
