In his recent diary I think TJWalker hit the nail on the head with this scenario/question.
Suppose Barack Obama had at one time been a real estate investor, who purchased low income property in Illinois. He was the sole owner. He decided at some point to leave real estate investing to teach constitutional law. He delegated the operation and management of his portfolio to a real estate management firm largely composed of his friends and business associates. While running for office, Obama is suddenly deluged with commercials presenting his former tenants who recall broken sewage lines which went unprepared, unremedied asbestos problems, unfair rent increases, constant monthly fees and penalties and finally refinancing which so burdened the property that it made general upkeep impossible and eventually caused the building to be lost in foreclosure. Barack Obama however walked away with tens of millions of dollars. Obama's response, "hey I had nothing to do with any of that, I'd already left to teach constitutional law. I had nothing to do with any of that." Would Mitt Romney understand and respect that? I think this is a point we need to repeat over and over and over again. It's right on and good looking out TJ.
