Solid science education is the best inoculation against ignorance.

The Inoculation Project, founded in 2009 by hyperbolic pants explosion, is a group of Kossacks who gather weekly to combat the anti-science push in conservative America by providing direct funding to science and math projects in red state classrooms. Our conduit is, a twelve-year-old organization rated highly by both Charity Navigator and the Better Business Bureau. Project: Science....It's Everywhere!!

My Students: Science is EVERYWHERE, and I want to help my students be able to explore the world around them! By offering "science buckets" with a variety of science instruments and tools, my students can explore the world outside our school and learn science using hands-on activities!

I teach in a small school in far Southwest Virginia. My school has a large percentage of students recieving free and reduced lunch. I have a group of students this year who are very interested in science and exploring the world around them. They do not have the materials at home to enhance their learning. I want to create "science buckets" to use at recess on the playground, and for them to check out to take home. My science buckets would include magnifying glasses, eye droppers, binoculars, and other science tools. I would also include notebooks for them to record their observations, keep data, and draw pictures of what they see. This will give them a whole new way to learn science!!

My Project: By donating to my project and helping me create these 12 science buckets, you will be opening up a whole new avenue of learning for children. They can explore the world around them and learn first hand so many science concepts rather than just reading about them. We can even share the buckets with families at home, as well as other grade levels at our school.

Imagine students looking at a blade of grass, or an ant, or a rock through the magnifying glass and writing or drawing what they observe. Can you see them talking science with other students(even other grade levels) on the playground while exploring with the tools in our science buckets? I envision sending buckets home for the weekend so families can explore their yards or the local park. Help make this possible by donating to this exciting project! .

Please move on to the Bonus Project!
We try to focus on the main project until it is completely funded, and then move on to the bonus project. If a project doesn't meet its funding goal by its deadline, it dies and any donations to it are referred to their donors to be moved to another project. For that reason, we don't like to split our sometimes limited resources between two open projects. Of course the choice of project to which you donate (if any!) is entirely yours.

Project: Physics Fun

My Students: Create scientists for a lifetime by letting them: Ask questions! Create a plan to find answers! Experiment and discover how the world works! Help us make Physics truly fun and meaningful.

My students come from all walks of life. They attend a public school with over 700 students. Most of my students do not "like" science when they first come to my class. When I ask them what a scientist looks like most answer a man with crazy white hair. They have a preconceived notion that science is just what is in books.

I really want to inspire my students by letting them be the scientist learning how to ask questions and find answers. I also want them to base their ideas on data and begin to practice good decision making for the future.

My Project: I saw a show about a company who had job openings but could not fill them because people were not prepared with enough science and math skills.

Physics is one of the hardest units for students to understand. Without materials for students to use it is even more challenging. With these materials students will investigate magnetic fields, light properties, uses of lens (in our bodies and in instruments), and more. Students will design experiments to test properties of matter. They will also collect data from lights and apply this data to stars compositions in the universe.

This unit has so many exciting components and we need materials so students can not just read about science but DO science.

Do you remember science in middle school? If you are like me you don't because you weren't inspired or you just read about science in a book. I do remember my first science class where we experimented. It is the reason I became a scientist and now a teacher to help share the love of science. Not only is it important for students and their present learning, I truly believe many jobs in our future will require a good science foundation. Help us start now by making scientists for a lifetime!

Last week, we completed FOUR PROJECTS!

Project #1, It's Electric!, will provide fifth graders in Lawrenceville, Georgia, with the materials they need to study electricity.

Project #2, Give a Hoot! Owl Pellet Dissection and Butterfly Pavilion, will allow third graders in Milton, Florida to dissect owl pellets and study the life cycle of butterflies.

Project #3, Game Programming Students Need XBox Controllers, will allow high school students in Dallas, Texas to try the game programs they write in computer class.

The bonus project, Recycling to Help Our Environment!, will provide elementary students in Toccoa, Georgiai with the materials they need to expand their recycling program. They will use the money they earn from recycling to buy plants for their butterfly garden.
