Yesterday we had a recommended diary on how we are glad that Obama didn't listen to Cory Booker.
All the speculation given the success of the Bain inquiries is that Booker would be wondering through the political wilderness for some time. I'm relatively new to this side of the aisle so could somebody explain to me this?
NEWARK — Newark Mayor Cory Booker said today he was gratified to be chosen to help draft the party platform for the Democratic National Committee. As Rachel would say talk me down and explain how this is 11th dimensional chess.
"I'm proud to be serving as co-chair of the DNC platform committee," Booker said in a statement. "I look forward to working with other Democratic leaders to form a platform that represents not just our party but the values, policies and ideas that will move our nation forward."
Booker's relationship with the party and the White House hit a snag in May when he told "Meet The Press" host David Gregory that he found President Obama's attacks on Bain Capital "nauseating." Bain was once led by Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and has become a centerpiece of his bid for the White House.
After Booker made the comments, rumors swirled that Booker had irrevocably soured his relationship with the president and the party. But his appointment to help draft a set of goals for Democrats indicates he's still an important voice in the national party.
