Is this the new face of Islamic terrorism?
In a fear-mongering move as stupefying as Michele Bachmann's gaze in general, Bachmann and four other GOP lawmakers have requested an "investigation" inquisition against Huma Abedin, a longtime senior political aide and championed veteran of the Clinton Administration, now a deputy chief of staff and aide to the US Secretary of State.
What could Huma Abedin be hiding? More under the unbelievable orange cluster of disbelief.
Huma Abedin, is the embattled wife of former Representative Anthony Weiner of New York. She has worked for hardcore Dems since the 90s while married to one of the Democrats' most vociferous (if man-stupid) legislators in one of the most terrorism-vigilant states in the country after a certain event in 2001 but can we please suspend our disbelief for just a second because it's entirely possible that all of the following institutions and individuals have been duped by an American-hating, secret radical Islamist masquerading in pretty red dresses:
Huma Abedin's Pull-A-Fast-One List
1. The Department of Defense
2. Obama (the man who got, oh yea, BIN LADEN)
3. The Clintons, lifelong political veterans with inscrutably sharp political noses
4. The Secretary of State
5. New York's Ninth Congressional District
6. John McCain, crown senator maverick prince of Arizona
Notice I listed those in order of descending order of plausibility.
So what exactly is the evidence against her, and why should we spend more taxpayer dollars, on top of the $50 million the GOP has spent on 33 ACA repeals and the 18 months Issa spent on his fast and furious and beautiful dark, twisted, teenage fantasy starring Eric Holder, to "investigate" Abedin? Well, it's a conspiracy more complicated than Obama's installation by way of socialist Kenya–
Via the LA Times:
The attacks have been led by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), the chairman of the tea party caucus in the House, and four other conservative lawmakers, who have asked federal officials to investigate whether Abedin, a Muslim-American who is deputy chief of staff at the State Department, is using her influence on U.S. policy toward the Islamic group. The lawmakers cite a report showing that Abedin's relatives, including her deceased father, have alleged connections to the Muslim Brotherhood.
This smells of a hit job, and an un-American one at that.
But have no fear. McCain has unleashed the kraken on Bachmann:
"These allegations about Huma and the report from which they are drawn are nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable woman, a dedicated American and a loyal public servant," said McCain in a speech on the Senate floor on Wednesday morning.
A bit underwhelming even by McCain's standards, but a show of force nonetheless.
He went on to call the GOP to task on something they've excelled at since, well, forever:
"When anyone, not least a member of Congress, launches specious and degrading attacks against fellow Americans on the basis of nothing more than fear of who they are and ignorance of what they stand for, it defames the spirit of our nation, and we all grow poorer because of it," he said.
If only he applied this rhetoric to Mexican immigrants too (hear that, Jan Brewer?), then perhaps we could pass the DREAM Act.
Now, if only we can convince Hillary to come back from the dark side and stop telling Abedin all our national secrets:
Shhhh....
