Mitt Romney has to be very worried by this latest breaking news. Former President George W. Bush announced that he won't be attending this year's Republican Convention.

Bush supports Romney and believes he would be a great president, "but he's still enjoying his time off the political stage and respectfully declined the invitation to go to Tampa," spokesman Freddy Ford said in an email first reported by Politico.
Bush has largely stayed out of politics and the public eye since leaving the White House in 2009 amid an economic crisis, an unpopular war in Iraq and growing budget deficits.
President Bush also avoided attending the last Republican Convention. As the party's elder statesmen this has to be detrimental to the Party's institutional memory. And we know how Republicans cherish their Party's proud history.
This has to come as a bitter disappointment to Republicans everywhere that their beloved champion and leader for eight years won't be speaking at their convention. He won't be able to reminisce about the Party's triumphs under his leadership, or share his wisdom with his party, and provide his affirmation of the party's nominee.
I'm sure Romney will be on the phone with President Bush urging.. no begging him to reconsider.
