The Aurora police chief didn't specify if he actually used the drum magazine, merely that it was 'recovered from the scene'.
I don't care. That he was able to buy this facilitator of massacre fills me with anger.
What other use is there for a 100 round magazine on an assault rifle?
These magazines weren't legal during the period of the large capacity magazine ban between 1994 and 2004.
Even if we set aside (for the moment) the debate over whether 'assault weapons' should be legal, or how many guns one individual should be allowed to purchase in a short period of time, how can anyone justify a 100-round magazine?
I found one for sale on the internet for $139... no permit necessary, of course!
This is just sickening - I'm almost beyond words.
Hey, all you sanctimonious pricks at the NRA! If we really can't do ANYTHING to control homicidal maniacs' access to unlimited armories, can't we at LEAST make them reload once in a while so we can have a chance to run away or find a better hiding place? Or tackle them?
Seriously, is THAT too much to ask?
Wayne Lapierre, are you especially PROUD of yourself today? Did you remember to carve another 12 notches in your gun butt?
You have the blood of these innocent victims on your hands.
So do the rest of you 'patriots' in the NRA and Congress who put the 'right' of a maniac to massacre innocent people above all else.
Go pat each other on the back and remind each other that 'guns don't kill people'.
Enough. I always close my diaries and comments with the salutation 'Cheers', but not this one. I have no cheer, only a feeling of dread for the effects of the greivous wounds inflicted on our country by people like these. I fear these wounds are mortal.
