This is my first diary on Daily Kos ever.
I've put up a blog post or two in other places, but never had anything interesting or creative enough to say that seemed original enough that would add to the conversation here.
But now ... now I have a little fundraiser to promote, and it occurs to us that there may be Kossacks who would enjoy this event (and enjoy us and our meetings). So I got designated to write a little bit and invite y'all to join us.
Northside Democracy for America (NDFA) is a Chicago-based (north side, you may have guessed) grassroots political organization dedicated to electing socially progressive, fiscally responsible, and ethically committed Democrats to all levels of government. Yes, in Chicago. It can be done.
Our annual fundraiser, Small Change for Big Change 2012, is happening Monday, July 23 at Uncommon Ground (1401 W. Devon) from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
Some details:
Where is it? Uncommon Ground, 1401 W. Devon
When? 6:30-8:30 pm
How do I get there? There's a small parking lot and it's a short walk from the Loyola Red Line
How much? $50 per ticket
Who is going to be there? Lots of awesome people from Northside DFA, plus some elected officials (Deb Shore, Ameya Pawar and Karen Yarbrough have all RSVP'd) and some candidates (current and former) that NDFA greatly admires (Leslie Coolidge, Ilya Sheyman and Anne Shaw).
We'd love to be joined by as many Kossacks as can make it -- besides this fundraiser, we have monthly meetings where we hear from elected officials and candidates, and beyond that we organize to go out to do campaign work - we put boots on the ground (and on the ground) to make change happen by electing better Democrats.
You can RSVP through our Act Blue page, or through Facebook, or you can show up and write a check. We'll be grateful no matter what. Promise.
