Because this is a WASP American Terrorist and not someone with an Islamic Surname the Republican Leadership has no answers how we can fix this issue.  Here's some LEADERSHIP for them:

1) Patriot Act-We track, monitor and investigate terrorist activities.   Let's use that power to track LARGE AMMO(above 3000 rounds) and Assault Gun Purchases.  Start with a simple phone call at the time of purchase.
2) Wire Tap and Monitor the Internet and Wireless Usage of Key suspects
3) Build up and Bulk up the ATF!
4) Send Agents to all the most High Risk Contacts.

Gee isn't that how we handle Terrorists Today?

If anyone says that this is inconvenient or penalizes the whole Country ask them if they have been to the Airport lately!   We are searching, X-raying and reviewing and we have not had an attack in over 10yrs!

If the Terrorist had an Islamic name and was from an Arab Country I bet the Republicans would have plenty of answers!

Finally, we need to tax the Guns and Bullets to pay for all of this!

The Beauty of this approach is that we will use laws that we already have in place!

Remember, Freedom isn't Free!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

but suing the Patriot Act is simply absurd and dangerous.  One of the worst pieces of legislation ever passed regarding the destruction and abuse of our constitutional rights and you want to promote its use even more?

Even as snark this would not be funny.

and I have not thought it through, it is using an act already on the books to combat what is truly a problem:  The proliferation of guns that are not used by "outdoorsmen/women" in killing PEOPLE.   LET the ranting begin!

as the perpetual villains for a reason....brainwashing and diversion?

The media, as are countries with a sympathetic media,  experts at creating situations to focus anger on or blame others for geopolitical purposes.

Some countries are known to use false flags as their standard MOP.   Their intel even has a motto that states deception is their goal.   Books by their own intel agents discussing this have been published.

If we are going to start tearing apart Americans and our freedom,  lets  start with the only country who actually benefited from 9-11.

Victims of bigotry are the poorest, least influential members of society.......never the wealthiest, most educated, most overrepresented in high levels, and most influential. Bigotry hurts the least influential. To claim or say otherwise is absurd.

  •  You may have something here (0+ / 0-)

and it may actually mean that damn act will do something that will be helpful to our safety.  I am not against guns and never have been, I am against these large clips and drums though.  I have yet to see or hear of a Bambi that needs a 100 round drum to being down.

gives a very large carrot to the hunters as well as a assault weapon ban.  I can't imagine any hunter worth the name needs more then 6 shots to take down game.   Lots of old time hunting weapons were single shot.

  •  You seem to be forgetting--back in 2001-2002 (0+ / 0-)

a decision was made not to allow police or national security agencies to track gun ownership, not even for muslims and other scary brown people. The Second Amendment is so sacred that even terrorists are protected under it.

else. I had a friend who claimed he could make a bomb out of peanut butter. Since he had special forces training I assume that he was telling the truth. Whatever we are doing now is not working. Ssomething very basic needs to change.

    •  You're correct to a degree. Spree killings this (0+ / 0-)

bad (and worse) happen in countries with very few guns. Knives are used.

The controlling factor in mass killings like this have more to do with a large number of confined victims with restricted mobility and sight lines than the actual weapon itself.
