A while back the NH Labor News posted a message about Mike Rowe and his campaign "Mike Rowe Works". The post was titled Mike Rowe Believes In American Skilled Labor.
Mike Rowe, from the the show “Dirty Jobs” also understands this. If you have not seen his show, you should check it out. He works with people who do the jobs that some would never do. One thing about the show is that in all the episodes, I have never seen one person say I hate this job. They may come home messy, dirty, and probably smelly, but they work hard and feel good about the work they do. That is what Dirty Jobs is all about.
In 2008 as our economy was declining Mr Rowe identified one of the problems with America’s workforce. Ms White explained that “Mike wanted to focus our country on the declining interest in skilled trades and the fact that we marginalize good jobs most of which many people consider “dirty” or not as worthwhile as those “white collar” or college jobs”. As part of his campaign he launched a website called mikeroweWORKS.com.
Now it is Mike Rowe who needs our help. Viva Towels, Wal-Mart, and Mike Rowe Work have joined forces to create a new contest. The contest is called "
The Wall Of Tough Jobs."
All you have to do is submit the name and photograph of a skilled trade worker and they will add it to the wall. By submitting someone you both are entered into a contest where you can win a daily $50 gift card, a weekly $100 gift card, or a grand prize $5000 gift card.
That is all you have to do. By submitting your friends, Mike Rowe Works will also benefit. Viva Towels will donate $5 to the Mike Rowe Works Foundation for every entry.
Submit your friends here now. There is only 36 hours left in the contest.
As a reminder about the what Mike Rowe Works is all about I have embeded the video of Mike Rowe talking to the Senate Commerce Committee about the need for skilled workers in America.
