Mitt Romney: What I want to do is find the people that represent a danger to America and find them and keep them from having the capacity to use or buy things that can harm or hurt other people".
From
Brian William's interview with Mitt Romney 2:50 mark.
That was part of Mitt Romney's reply to the tragedy in Aurora. Those lines should set off alarm bells in areas where many of Romney's supporters don't want to hear alarms going off.
The next reporter to interview Romney needs to follow up on those sentences.
How does Romney propose to "find the people that represent a danger to America and find them and keep them from having the capacity to use or buy things that can harm or hurt other people"?
I guess Romney plans on interviewing everyone in the country in order to "find them" since it would be improper to target gun owners or ammunition purchasers nor is it proper to data mine internet and phone communications.
How will Romney define "people that represent a danger to America" since most attempts to define that have been met with outrage since the definition is either one sided and ignores threats from those whose political compass is aligned with the evaluater's or it is broad enough to include those at all the extremes and then attacked by those who are at or whom lean towards one of those extremes?
Since Romney doesn't think gun laws need changing, does he plan to make create a new law which would make those who "represent a danger to America" into felons so that they will be precluded from owning and purchasing firearms or ammunition?
We hear from many law abiding citizens that they believe they have the Constitutional Right to act violently if faced with government officials who take steps to prevent them from being prepared to act violently or whose action are believed to be precursors for their imagined theories. Will Romney's new laws make it a felony to actively prepare to react violently?
Many fear that Obama wants to take away people's Right and ability to act violently whenever they feel it is warranted even though Obama hasn't given them any reason to justify those beliefs.
This statement by Romney actually makes it appear that he would be willing to find a way to take away the Rights of certain Americans and prevent then from having the weapons which those Americans feel they are required to have when their fears become realized.
If you follow the postings on many other blogs, and even a few here, you see many instances where people declare that they want to harm others and are prepared to take violent action for many causes other than self defense.
Will Romney be the President who starts rounding up Americans based on peoples declaration that they are prepared to harm other Americans based on political beliefs?
