"I’ll kill anybody that steps on my property."
Looks like Florida is turning into a state called Zimmermantopia, where you can shoot anyone you feel like any time you want.
Cape Coral, FL resident Kenneth Bailey Roop certainly believed that after he shot an unarmed door-to-door salesman in his front yard this past Wednesday.
Certainly Roop not an Obama voter:
He said Roop’s outlook was similar to “militia-minded, anti-government” types and that he was obsessed with the idea of guarding his home. Sotomayor recalled Roop saying: “I have a right to protect my property and my land. Nobody need come on there.” LINKThis was not his first time pulling a gun on someone. He did it to a meter reader in 2005. He was also known to threaten neighborhood kids who set foot on his lawn.
(This story hit home for me because my wife and I have a place not too far from here. Just another typical quiet suburban neighborhood. Cape Coral is generally a pretty sleepy place.)
What have you done, Florida? What have you done?
RIP Nicholas Rainey - just a guy trying to do his job.
