No, this isn't hyperbole.  As incredible as it first sounds, it's true.  Mitt Romney and Ayman al-Zawahiri both don't like the new, democratically-elected government in Tunisia.

Mitt Romney, in his interview with Sheldon Adelson's reactionary Israel Hayom newspaper:

"President [George W.] Bush urged [deposed Egyptian President] Hosni Mubarak to move toward a more democratic posture, but President Obama abandoned the freedom agenda and we are seeing today a whirlwind of tumult in the Middle East in part because these nations did not embrace the reforms that could have changed the course of their history, in a more peaceful manner," Romney said.

Romney argued that with the rise of democratically elected Islamist governments in some of the countries undergoing revolutions -- Egypt and Tunisia in particular -- the Arab Spring has turned out to be less of a boon for Western interests than it initially appeared.

"Clearly we're disappointed in seeing Tunisia and Morocco elect Islamist governments. We're very concerned in seeing the new leader in Egypt as an Islamist leader. It is our hope to move these nations toward a more modern view of the world and to not present a threat to their neighbors and to the other nations of the world," he said.

Ayman al-Zawahiri:

"The leaders of the Ennahda party claim to be a part of what they call moderate, enlightened Islam," al-Zawahiri said in the recording posted online Sunday (June 10th). "Well, let them call themselves whatever they want, but they are...one of the symptoms of our civilisational diseases," the terrorist said.

After Al-Zawahiri called on Tunisians to mount an uprising to "use Qur'an as source of rule", hundreds of salafists went on a violent rampage, torching police stations, art centres and other sites in several cities. The government was forced to declare a night-time curfew.

When both by Romney and al-Zawahiri want you gone, you're probably doing something right.

Mitt Romney is proving himself to be the most clueless Republican Presidential contender since.... George W. Bush.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
