Today's diary is a short one. I just wanted to highlight more of the hatred that continues to consume comments on the Chick-Fil-A issue. I figure that exposing these bigots in a permanent record like DailyKOS would do more good than trying to make them change their minds (ha, like THAT is going to happen!)

Here's the kind of crap that is being said on a recent Boston Globe article about the Chila-Fil-A Same Sex Kiss Day event this Friday (please join if you can!)

All is not lost, however, as a voice of sanity calls out occasionally:

PS: I can't seem to be able to post images, even using a standard "img" HTML tag. I guess I don't have credentials for that yet?

I have also had to Block and report a lot of intolerant people on Facebook because of this issue. Some truly hateful people decided to harass people on the Same Sex Kiss Day event page...

I have considered sharing the Block list but I haven't reached that point yet. Sharing the Block list would give those people negative SEO implications, which could hurt their ability to get jobs or other benefits that require background checks. In layman's terms, I don't wanna directly attack these people by screwing with their Google results, yet.

Is it just me, or do you feel that this country is becoming TOO divided? The pure bigots & racists seem to be gaining numbers, and I know a lot of these idiots also have guns. I'm honestly afraid that we are looking at another Civil War if we can't regain some civility in these debates.

I want to compile a list of paste-able responses to these bigots instead of coming up with new ways to say the same things, because they all just make the same four or five arguments anyway. There's no winning with Christian zealots, so maybe its wise to try to engage the 1/100 people who don't have their minds made up on this issue and show them that Equality is the right thing to fight for, rather than waste time with virtual brick walls.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
