What better, more positive and generally all-around helpful to the world at large organization is there than the Humane Society? And who have they endorsed in the primary in Washington's 1st congressional district? Why, Darcy Burner, of course. Her campaign sends this announcement:
(Redmond, WA) – On Friday, the Humane Society Legislative Fund endorsed Darcy Burner in the race for Washington’s First Congressional District, joining a long list of organizations that have added their support to the more than 9,500 grassroots supporters who have contributed to Burner’s campaign.
“We are grateful for Darcy’s support of humane issues and for her work to create a more humane society,” said Executive Director Sara Amundson.
The Humane Society Legislative Fund is a social welfare organization which works to pass animal protection laws at the state and federal level, to educate the public about animal protection issues, and to support humane candidates for office. They base their endorsements solely on a candidate’s positions and actions on animal welfare issues, regardless of party affiliation.
Working to create a more humane society is pretty much what Darcy is all about, and not just on issues related to our non-human friends. Her commitment to equality, to a better and more just society, isn't just lip-service, it's
her work. This recognition from the Humane Society is just a nice little acknowledgement of her efforts.
