It's no surprise when two rich people, namely Clint Eastwood and Jenna Jameson, say they're going to vote for Mitt Romney. They're part of the one percent with him and stand to benefit from his so-called tax plan.
And when you're running for President in a tight election I guess you should take any endorsement you can get...even if it's coming from a retired porn star whose best known films are Up and Cummers and On Her Back and from a cagy old actor who seemingly supported the bailout of the American automobile industry, which Romney says he wouldn't have done.
NBC News.Com recently reported that retired porn star Jameson threw in with Romney, citing the party's preference for low taxes on the wealthy.
"I’m very looking forward to a Republican being back in office,” Jameson told a CBS reporter at the anniversary celebration of a gentleman's club in San Francisco. "When you’re rich, you want a Republican in office."
Truer words have never been spoken. But I doubt those are the words Romney and the GOP wanted her to say in her endorsement though...might confuse all of those poor and middle class voters who the Republicans continue to hoodwink into voting against their own best economic interests.
According to an Aug. 4 CNN report Clint Eastwood showed up at the Sun Valley resort as a citizen concerned about the direction of the country, telling reporters beforehand he was backing the Republican presidential candidate "because I think the country needs a boost somewhere."
He later told hundreds at the outdoor reception that Romney was "going to restore, hopefully, a decent tax system that we need badly...so that there's a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as to who's paying taxes and who isn't."
A "boost somewhere?" Please. He's for Romney for one reason and one reason alone: Romney's tax plan benefits him. That's it. It's certainly not because he liked Romney's position about bailing out our auto industy.
Remember last year's Super Bowl? In an ad, titled "It's Halftime in America," Eastwood said the country is in its "halftime" but will pull through, using Detroit as an example.
"Motor City is fighting again," Eastwood says. "We find a way through tough times and when we can't find a way then we'll make one... Detroit's showing us it can be done."
People rightfully assessed that as Eastwood's way of saying the government did the right thing in bailing out the auto industry. But now, he's in favor of the guy who went on the record saying we should let Detroit go bankrupt. What a joke. But Eastwood is rich and he is a Republican...even served a stint So we should've known when it came down to it he'd support the GOP nominee, whether it was Romney, Santorum or even Newt.
The sad part in all of this is that so many working class folks (especially working class white folks) are buying into this BS and voting against their own economic best interests. I can see why Eastwood and Jameson are for Romney, but these poor and middle class people? It makes absolutely no sense.
