On Friday's Edition of America Live, Faux News' Alisyn Camerota had as her guest SiriusXM host and leading teabagger David Webb. They both wrung their hands over a seeming lack of patriotism from our Olympic athletes. Seems that Camerota and Webb were none too pleased that a large number of athletes don't wear stars and stripes on their uniforms. (h/t to Newshounds and Addicting Info)
Webb also complained that we aren't shouting "USA! USA!" as often as we used to, out of fear that we might be seen as "ugly Americans." He thinks it's a sign that we're giving in to "a soft anti-Americanism."
Has it ever occurred to Webb and Camerota that maybe, just maybe, the mere fact that these athletes are willing to take the step up and represent their country is by definition patriotic? Oh, that's right--in the Faux News universe, anything less than out-and-out jingoism is not being American enough.
