More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I voted for Bill Clay in 74-80, and then was in Gephardt's district.  Luckily, I'm back in the 1st District, which is one of the two Dem district's left.

Since I first voted in 74, I always have had a Dem Congressperson.

  •  here's my guesses (0+ / 0-)

    St Louis Predictions:

20-25% turnout, here in St. Louis City.

    Clay wins US District

I think the local contested state house and senate races will mainly go to white candidates that are running against split african-american candidates.

City treasurer:  My head says Wessels takes it, but my I've got this sneaking suspicion that Jones slips past at the post.

Here's my upset prediction:  Butler beats Casas, handily.  Despite Casas' big institutional and financial advantages, Butler has worked his butt off.  This race will be a major speed bump, in Casas' carefully planned political career.

ps- bonus prediction - so, i know the polls say otherwise, but i think the evangelicals get Akin the nod.

Martin has be campaigning for some office to be determined at a later date for as long as I've known him.  I am not in the district but I find his relationship to Rex Sinquefield very suspect and could not vote for him for that reason.

      I agree about Wessels.

  •  no significant Dem races (0+ / 0-)

here in SW Mo. so I'm crossing over to vote for Akin.

He's my guy until I vote for Claire!

  •  I live in MO-02, I figure voting in the primary (0+ / 0-)

is pretty pointless since whoever wins the Democratic nomination wouldn't win even if the nominee was Jesus Christ himself. I'm voting mainly just to vote against that horrible "We poor oppressed Christians want the right to pray in the Missouri constitution because the godless Atheists and Muslims are trying to make it illegal to pray!" amendment.

Also voting as a test, since I recently moved and this will be my first time voting at my new polling place (a church, ugh. Religious institutions should not be polling places. That's what public schools, police stations and civic centers are for). If there's any shenanigans preventing me from voting because the address on my drivers license is my old one or whatever, I want to get that fixed before November when it actually counts.
