So, I woke up this morning to find that Paul Ryan's name was selected out of a hat and leaked to the legacy media in the middle of the night as Bishop Romney's running mate. On a weekend. The second weekend in August, which is one of the biggest vacation-starting weeks of the year.
Basically, 90% of the country won't be paying attention today. No one watches the news on Saturday, nor the Sunday morning political bloviating programs (except the villagers) -- unless it's been confirmed that the sun is about to explode.
It goes without saying that Paul Ryan, the author of the GOP budget that dismantles Medicare, guts Medicaid, and essentially turns over the reigns of Social Security to Goldman Sachs, is the worst pick possible that Romney could have made. In the coming weeks, the pick of Paul Ryan as Romney's second-in-command will confirm everything that's the worst case scenario for the average American if the GOP is returned to power.
Did James Carville make this pick for Romney? Did the true GOP power brokers (Koch boys, Sheldon Adelson, etc.) make Mitt an offer he couldn't refuse? The selection of Paul Ryan literally makes even less tactical (and strategic) sense to me than McCain picking Palin four years ago.
Wow. Just wow.
