If you do the crime, do the time.
So I did the 100 months federal time inside for that load in 1981, and I need to throw in the 4 or 5 years fugitive time in between, just to be honest. A lot of water under the bridge since then though, highs and lows.
But this economy today is a real motherfucker.
I ain't worked for over half a year, the longest in my life. Even in prison I had factory jobs all the time. Mostly the best positions and highest pay rates in the joint.
And I'm still too young to die, and too poor to not need the income, so I'm fighting like hell to stay in the hunt.
So, this place don't ask the killer "any felony convictions" question, instead just telling me where and when to show up. Questions from me on the front end? Hell no, I ain't asking shit, just going along to get along.
You know that there's a catch. With an economy this bad, and a country full of wannabe Romneys, how could there not be?
On with the orientation. Manufacturing at minimum wage? That's obviously a bitch, but I'm in. No benefits? Sure it's a killer, but what's the option? Absolute and complete disdain for the workforce? Redundant! And then the real hammerblow!
Ten hours Monday thru Thursday, with another mandatory OT 10 hours Friday.
And all of it on a schedule that my being dependent on public transit made impossible.
Wow, I'd sure hate to be a poor, picked on "job creator" under these conditions.
