So there's this new thing I've been hearing about "Left-Libertarian" and I was wondering if anyone on Daily Kos was one and could explain it to me? I have a friend who is super on the left. He's all into the "Vaccines have a .00018% chance of making your kids autistic" and "Chemical free bug spray." He's now starting to actually put up stuff from Info Wars, the domain of resident crank Alex Jones (Jesus this man is stupid), going on about how corporations and the government are spraying crops with pesticides that infect us with chemicals .... to do something.
However, when I talk to him, he's all for universal health care. Hell, he's a socialist on this front, going further than I would. He thinks that we should fund our public schools more, and model ourselves on Scandinavia. He thinks gays should have long had the right to marry, and he's anti-Obama. Obama is of course bought off by corporate money and carries on the same imperial policies of the Bush administration. No difference whatsoever from his view. Yes, a man who graduated from Harvard Law, who could have gone on as a corporate attorney and make gobs of money, went into the presidency so he could be bought off by a shadow group of 1% corporate banksters. It burns.
Can someone explain this phenomenon to me? It's like someone took the worst of libertarians: conspiracy theories, cartoonish view of unions, the false view that Democrats and Republicans are exactly the same, and then fused that with socialist/liberal ideas into one incoherent mess. It has to be linked with the Occupy Movement and the fusion of Ron Paul-bots and the Left. Does anyone else have experience with this and can explain it to me, because I do not get it.
