In Michael Grunwald's book, "The New New Deal: The Hidden Story of Change in the Obama Era" Grunwald describes a conversation Mitt Romney had with Bob Bennett (R) of Utah after Bennett was pushed out of Congress by the Tea Party.
Bennett says his friend Romney commiserated with him about the Tea Party’s ingratitude, telling a presumably apocryphal story about getting bitten by a ferret he had tried to rescue from a dishwasher. "Mitt said the Tea Party people are like that ferret in the dishwasher," he says. “They’re so frightened and angry, they’ll even bite Bob Bennett, who’s trying to get the country out of this mess.”
Now, Bennett did use the word,
apocryphal, which means Bennett thought Romney could have been lying about being bitten by a ferret he tried to rescue from a dishwasher. However, with Mitt's history of abuse on animals and people, the word Bennett used also meant he thought the story could have been true.
Sadly, Romney tells so many lies one never knows if any of his stories are true. Remember the time he said he remembered watching his dad march along side Martin Luther King? That was a lie.
How about the time Romney told the story about living in France and said, "A number of the apartments I lived in when I was there didn’t have toilets," -- only to find out, that was a lie.
I wonder what a Tea Party person who fails to have proper Voter ID will do when they are turned away from the Polls in November ... hmmm ... talk about angry ferret.
Oh, I almost forgot, in typical Romney-form, Romney's campaign was asked about Romney's comparison of Tea Party folks and angry ferrets and naturally, they took the opportunity to spread more hate and lies about President Obama.
ANDREA SAUL: Governor Romney believes the Tea Party is a welcome force in helping reform the status quo and a source of great energy for those who understand President Obama has spent too much and made government too big.
