Y'all have heard and read some about our Lubbock County Judge, the IMNVHO not so honorable Tom Head, lately.

County Judge Tom Head, who's not a lawyer -- nor even the commonest sort of county judge in Texas, a retired law enforcement officer with some passing familiarity with county, state and federal laws, however IS  the apparently ineducable genius who said the President would turn our nation over to the UN and he wanted a tax increase so we could have experienced and trained deputies backing him up at the county line when the next Civil War starts, to stop the invading blue-bereted UN troops. He said all this in interviews with the local FOX-TV station (which, oddly, may be the nearest thing to a "liberal" newsroom in town, 'cause their news director's old school) and the rabidly right-wing Lubbock Avalanche Journal.

I say apparently ineducable because back in 2009 the county sent this guy to a conference on racial sensitivity, and this is how far that training evidently sunk in.

This morning one of our county commissioners (the only Democrat on the court) advised Judge Head that in light of those ill-advised remarks, he ought to take a break:

County Commissioner Gilbert Flores then fired back at Head saying he was embarrassed and felt betrayed by the statements. "I am very disappointed by the comments that Judge Head made yesterday. I am constantly defending my community in my travels around the state of Texas, especially when I venture into the larger cities like Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, down in the Valley, and they constantly have to remind me that I live in West Texas."

"We need to change the image that we have throughout the nation and throughout the state, and the comments made by Judge Head yesterday don't help that. If this was a military court you'd probably be court martialed and you'd probably be charged with treason. Tom, I think you better plan to go fishing very soon," Flores said.

Video of some local reactions and links to our county Democrats' responses over the Itzl:

KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Since he's come out publicly with his "pure paranoid fantasy," we've had local Dems answering up in Commissioners' Court hearings and calling for his resignation -- out loud, in front of God and everybody, right here in Lubbock Texas. And some of the other county officialsare suggesting Head, not having misspoken, is flat-out wrong.

But here and now on a national forum I want to send kudos to Susan Barrick of Lubbock:

The woman who got up and sparked the debate was Sue Barrick, and she said, "I was astonished to hear that we were raising money in order to prepare for the eventuality that if president Obama were to be re-elected there would be a civil war and that we would have to meet opposition at the county line."

The Judge then defended himself, saying that his statement was taken out of context.

"As emergency management director I have to prepare for the worst case scenario. I'm not an alarmist. I don't think these things that I mentioned yesterday are going to happen, but I have to prepare for the very worst thing that could happen," Head said. "Worst case scenario, the U.N. comes in and does all their stuff. That's probably not going to happen but I have to prepare for it. Worst case scenario we probably wont have an F5 tornado go through Lubbock, but I have to prepare for it."

Lubbock County residents have another chance to be heard on the tax increase August 27th. That hearing might be fun too.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

But I'm kinda glad I'm in North Central Texas at the moment, the crazy is running rampant out there. Lord help those holding the sanity line, they're going to need it.

I'm thinking it would be just easier to man up and say we're going have to increase your property taxes instead of creating a tinfoil UN beret wearing army coming to Lubbock to take away all y'all's beer and jalapeno poppers!

Yeah, West Texas....Some folks say the wind up there can mess with your head, heaven knows they're full of hot air--big time!

'cause out here in Lubbock we've got serious Bush-league jerks wielding more power than they need, and they're using it to further their idiotic, paranoid fantasies.

Judge Head: "OK. What's going to happen. Now I'm going to tell you my opinion, OK. Obama has put executive orders and whatever other documents his minions have filed. And regardless of whether the Republicans take over the Senate, which I hope they do, he is going to make the United States Congress and he's going to make the Constitution irrelevant. He's got his czars in place that don't answer to anybody. He's got his documents in place. They're going to be irrelevant.

"He is going to do what he wants to do. Now what do you think he is going to try to do in this next term? One of the things, my opinion. One of the things is he's going to try to give the sovereignty of the United States away to the United Nations. What do you think the public is going to do when that happens? We are talking civil unrest, civil disobedience, possibly, possibly civil war, OK? Now what happens? What happens? Now I'm not talking just talking riots here and there. I'm talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms, get rid of the dictator. OK, what do you think he is going to do when that happens? He is going to call in the UN troops, personnel carriers, tanks and weapons."

Jeff Klotzman: "I hope you don't have like a crystal ball you're looking into."

But that said, the folks around here in the know about this are just dumbfounded to hear an elected official talk about something akin to little green men. And Tom Head knows that's what he's talking about.

During the Clinton years my kin in Lubbock were anything but Clinton supporters and more than once they suggested West Texas should just seceded from the nation like our Texas constitution said we can---Now I know that's not right, but they believed in that bit of mythology without reservation. West Texas has always been a bit of wild card.

To people outside of Texas I'm quick to point out that Texas is very much like a country in itself. Because of our size we have vast regional and cultural differences. Each region has different colloquialisms, norms and vernaculars. It's hard for natives to understand various Texas tics let alone folks from the thar foreign states!

  •  THE EVIL PLAN (0+ / 0-)

It's so obvious that Obama wants to cede control of the USA, he's just lying in wait until he wins the election to do it.  Makes perfect sense!

and what he said to Jeff Klotzman during a radio show before FOX 34 aired his comments is telling (about the man's mental state IMO if nothing else).

The FOX station even has video of responses here:

    So, Obama is a dictator.

A dictator who wants to give control of his country over to the United Nations.

That would make him...a very unusual dictator, to say the least.

I'm reminded of that picture, the one with the "HE CAN'T BE ALL FOUR" caption above the symbols for communism, Nazism, etc.

Is it too much to ask that a member of the tinfoil crowd at least not hold conflicting conspiracy theories?

Normally one would expect the liberals to accept a tax increase and conservatives to instinctively oppose it.  Here, he's made voting for it even more unpalatable for liberals and moderates.  Grover Nordquist might have a job for him.

Have you forgotten about Bill Clinton's concentration camps for Republicans?  Have you forgotten that Bill Clinton handed over the national parks to the UN?  Have you forgotten the nefarious influence of the Trilateral Commission and the Bilderberg Group?  Have you forgotten the black helicopters, that will take all good Americans to the concentration camps?  Have you forgotten such true patriots as G Gordon Liddy (served time for Watergate) and Lt. Col. Oliver North (convicted by a jury of his peers, but got off by some shyster fancy-pants liberal lawyer on a "technicality")?
Folks, the threats to your liberty are not new.  They go back a long time, all the way back to Lee Atwater.  Take your country back now (not clear who from, but you'll figure it out)!  Remember the images of paratroopers from Nicaragua and Cuba dropping in on an innocent plains high school!  Repent, the end is nigh!
